On hiatus until May 3

Due to a very chaotic schedule of late, the ffvii100 will be on hiatus until May 3, 2010.

We will resume our regularly scheduled prompts at that time.

Thank you.

Prompt #18

A little good news/bad news on last week's prompt: no one got sick, so there were no points awarded. I'm sure the characters are grateful.

The prompt for this week is #18 - Alcohol

- you can use it as a medicinal.  It can numb the pain or even as a relaxant for a good nights sleep.
- you can use it as a beverage.  Just a little something to wet your whistle.
- you can burn it.  It makes quite a nice accelerant.
- you can wear it.  Many perfumes are alcohol based.
- you can dissolve chemicals that are insoluble in water with it.
- you can clean with it. Will get paint off a brush.

As you can see, we are taking a broad view of alcohol this week.  The beverage will be the most common choice for most, but don't be afraid to use the other many sides of alcohol (methanol, ethanol, etc) to drabble with this week.

Of course, with the drinking side comes hangovers, regretting acts you don't remember but just found out about, mood changes, and accidents.

Does Reno turn into the cry-bibbling "I love you" man when he drinks a little too much? Is Cid using alcohol as a medicinal?  Would Cloud clean components of his bike with it?  Is Yuffie a tad too young or does she swill it like a sailor? Does Rufus use the vino to forget?

Oh, and I bet Tifa's seen quite a bit of the boozing at the Seventh Heaven!

Whatever your preferred alcohol usage, you must write it in 100 words.

Prompt #17

The Turks and Avalanche were equally tongue-tied last week, allowing SOLDIER to waltz off with the trophy at the cost of 10 points.

This week's prompt is #17 - Illness

It's one of the most humbling of conditions: being sick. Cold, flu, geo-stigma, allergy related - heck, mentally unstable - whatever appeals to you, make someone miserable this week.

Why does Cloud hide his geo-stigma?  Is Reno a bad patient?  Does Rude insist on feeding sick people chocobo soup?  What about the first time Kadaj gets the sniffles?  Is Zack a big baby when he comes down with a cold?  Does Tseng show up to work anyway? Sephiroth, Genesis, Angeal - do they even get sick?

I want to see some characters get the sniffles, the sneezes, the fever, the cough - chocopox, maybe?  The only catch is that I want to see it happen in just 100 words.

Prompt #16

Apparently the Turks, SOLDIER, and Avalanche have spring fever already and are too busy to mess with something as nasty as blackmail.

This week's prompt is #16 - Dialogue Only

"Dialogue only?"

"Yes, dialogue only."

"Wow! But um, I don't know if I can do that."

"Sure you can!  People do it all the time. Characters have things to say without all the other narration.  Think about how you talk with friends.  No one is there narrating your behavior, so just leave that out and you will do fine!"

"Since you put it that way, it doesn't sound so bad."

"It's not, really.  Have fun with it!  But remember, you must write it in just 100 words."

Prompt #15

No points were awarded for last week's prompt.

The prompt this week is #15 - Blackmail.

Ah, blackmail - the art of making some poor sap pay money by threatening to reveal something nasty about them (or just something unpleasant they don't want anyone to know about).

Would ShinRa pay someone to keep "hush hush" about certain things?  Would Hojo even care?  Maybe Hojo is the blackmailer for his own ambition?  Are there some photographs of Cloud that he just doesn't want the guys to see?  What if Sephiroth isn't quite the SOLDIER that everyone thinks he is! *gasp*  What if it reaches the news media?!  *scream*

Whatever the blackmail, no matter who the target or who is doing the targeting, you must write it in 100 words!

Prompt Continuation

Due to a house-sitting gig I have this week, I am extended the current prompt until Monday (8th). I just don't have my materials with me that I use for prompting.

I will see you Monday.

Prompt #14

No points were awarded for last week.

The prompt for this week is #14 - Taste

Taste can be defined as(among other definitions):

1. The sense that distinguishes the sweet, sour, salty, and bitter qualities of dissolved substances in contact with the taste buds on the tongue.  What would Tifa's home cooked meal taste like - and would Cloud taste it?? Does Rude have to taste Rufus's food before he eats it to make sure it isn't poisoned?
2.  A personal preference or liking.  Does Rufus have a taste for expensive cars?  Does Cait Sith have a taste for adventure? Does Zack have a taste for fast women?

Can you taste the materia in the air? What about mako - does Sephiroth taste it in the sweat dripping from his lip?

Regardless of the sampling, let us have a taste your drabble in only 100 words.

Prompt #13

No points were awarded for last week. Since I made a mistake in posting, this prompt will run for the remainer of this week and  next week as well.

The prompt this week is #13 - Remember

Think about all the things you have to remember in a day - the to-do lists, the grocery store runs...

Sometimes music can make us remember fond things from our pasts.  We remember people, places, and things fondly.

Whether Cid is having fond remembrances of his bachelor life; Reno has to remember something and can't; Cloud remembers to call Tifa at the last minute; Rufus hates remembering anything having to do with his father - whatever you chose to remember, you must write it in 100 words.

Mod note to self - must remember to post the prompt!  ^_~

Title: Fade
Characters: Genesis
Rating: G
Word Count: 100

Sometimes, if he thinks about it, he recalls that his hair had been auburn once. The appeal of mirrors has faded so he does not stare at the dull grey it is now. His hands, he thinks, were not so gnarled. His face, too, might have been smoother. He was lighter, his motion fluid.

It’s not that his bones have turned to dust. There’s still so much time before that. But he no longer wears red leather, the color too vibrant on his faded form. “I’ve become you,” he says to the memory of those betrayed. “I live for you.”
